Penthos is a tertiary not-for-profit couple/family-focused organization committed to providing FREE evidence-based, specialist early mental health intervention to couples impacted by trauma and loss. Penthos is an established mental health organization that provides psychotherapy for couples/parents suffering ongoing (unresolved) grief following the death of a child or a miscarriage. The loss of a child, whether through unsuccessful IVF, miscarriage, medical termination, stillbirth, an illness, suicide, or accident is one of life’s most tragic and stressful events.
Penthos offers a FREE 16-week, evidence-based therapy program for couples suffering complicated and prolonged grief, at least 3 months after their loss. The program is provided by highly experienced clinical psychologists and couple therapists trained in Penthos’ short-term therapy model. Our therapists have over 25 years’ experience in this field. Each family will receive $3,000 worth of trauma and loss couple therapy. All of our therapists receive fortnightly Peer Group training with our Clinical Directors.
Our mission is to raise much-needed awareness and offer support to those affected by such tragedies, especially those living in rural areas. Penthos works with organizations such as Red Nose, Grief Line, Support by Suicide, Road Trauma Association, Adora Fertility, ParentLine, and many more.
Our program is available Australia-wide via personal video link, telehealth, and face-to-face. All patients can self-refer using the contact details listed on our website or your social workers may contact us on their behalf.
